The Texas Education Agency rates each public school district based upon 3 primary indices. They evaluate each school, along with each district, in an attempt to provide a transparent accountability system that allows parents to ascertain how well schools are performing and how well they are preparing children for graduation and life after high school.  On August 15, 2018 they released their "report cards" that gave each school/district  an A-F letter grade rating along with a numerical grade. The grades are derived as follows:  40% STAAR Test Results (the State of Texas' standardized test,) 40% on post high school preparedness, and 20% on graduation rates. Additionally, for those wanting specific information on a school's performance regarding a specific area of academics, they noted schools with outstanding achievement." In Collin County, all but 4 districts achieved an A rating, with Lovejoy ISD achieving the highest rating of 97.
